Cloudmark recently announced the availability of the Outlook Express version of SpamNet, an easy-to-use e-mail add-in that protects users from spam.

The software links a community of people in real time, so that the second a spam attack occurs, pressing the "block" button for a particular spam message instantly stops that spam for everyone in the community. Because of its community based peer-to-peer filtering model, SpamNet keeps more than 95 percent of spam out of an inbox automatically, If a spam does slip through to the inbox, users can simply click the block button to remove the message from the inbox and notify the entire SpamNet community immediately. Similarly, if a user thinks a certain message is not spam, they can click the "unblock" button and share that intelligence with the network. SpamNet has a Truth Evaluation System (TeS) feature that helps to make sure that only valid spam messages are blocked. SpamNet never deletes an email; it is just moved to the "spam" folder so users never lose important e-mail.
