COMDEX Las Vegas 2003 Flexes Channel Strength

COMDEX Las Vegas 2003

SAN FRANCISCO -- Nov. 11, 2003-- Event to Highlight Channel with Special Conference Sessions, Face-to-Face Meetings, Innovation Centers and After-Hours Networking Programs

MediaLive International, Inc., producer of the world's best-known events, related media and marketing services for technology buyers and sellers, today unveiled a variety of powerful programs, events and sessions targeting the channel at COMDEX Las Vegas 2003, November 16-20, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Specific focus areas include multi-vendor COMDEX Innovation Centers; specialized education and networking from industry leaders like Avaya, Cisco Systems, Extreme, Microsoft and Nortel; a large international channel focus at the Global Networking Center (GNC); and after-hours networking at COMDEX After Dark events throughout Las Vegas.

"Nearly half of all COMDEX attendees come from small-to-medium businesses, the only part of the IT market that is showing double-digit growth," said Eric Faurot, vice president and general manager of COMDEX. "Our focus on this influential area is a reflection of our customer's need to better understand and leverage all areas of the global channel to target vertical markets, small- to medium-sized businesses and overseas opportunities."

More about the COMDEX Channel Program

Monday - Wednesday, November 17-19, 2003

The COMDEX Channel Program provides three days of education exclusively for solutions providers, systems integrators, technology consultants, OEMs and VARS. Participants will learn about the latest trends in the technology marketplace; dialogue with leading vendors on specific products and technology solutions; and learn how to create partner programs to better target vertical markets.

The CRN Hall of Fame panel, "Reinventing the Enterprise," from 2-3 PM, Monday, November 17, in room N255/N257 of the Las Vegas Convention Center, brings together, in cooperation with COMDEX and the Computer Museum, top technology leaders to explore the trends that are driving enterprise change. Moderated by CRN Editor-in-Chief Michael Vizard, panelists, including Scott Cooper of IBM, Kevin Goffinet from Lexmark, and Tony Scott of GM, will discuss technology trends in the areas of processor advancements, Web services applications, distributed embedded systems, multimedia applications, and wireless network that are forcing IT organizations to reconstruct their approach to their IT resources and the role of the channel in the process.

A question-and-answer session from 3-4 PM will be held immediately following the panel.

Vendor Sponsored Channel Sessions

Select vendors who are part of the channel will be invited to participate in free educational sessions with industry leaders such as Microsoft, Cisco, Avaya, Nortel Networks and Extreme.

Sessions include:

-- Taking Servers into the Mainstream with Windows Small Business Server 2003, presented by Microsoft

-- IP Communications - The REAL Business Value, presented by Cisco Systems

-- Security & VPN opportunities for SME, presented by Cisco Systems

-- Driving Partner Advantage in a Competitive Market, presented by Nortel Networks

-- Building Your Business in an Age of Heightened Customer Expectations, presented by Avaya

-- Extreme Networks: Leading with Innovation - While Creating Profitable Partnerships, presented by Extreme Networks

The international channel will be addressed at the COMDEX GNC on the exhibit floor, in the international area. The GNC, located at the heart of the International Marketplace, is a hub for international networking and business development. At the GNC, guest speakers from around the world will present strategies for accessing U.S. and global markets. Participating countries include the United Kingdom, Brazil, Denmark, Taiwan, and France.

In addition, multi-vendor COMDEX Innovation Centers will anchor the exhibit floor. The centers, sponsored by the ASCII Group, Inc. (ASCII), the world's largest group of independent value added resellers (VARs) and solution providers, will provide a real-world context for complex technology, by combining vanguard solutions, practical demonstrations, face-to-face consulting sessions, on-going presentations and other specialized content to help small and midsize businesses make informed IT purchasing decisions.
